Harmen Fraanje is een van de toonaangevende pianisten in Nederland.
Zijn trio kent een ongekende ontwikkeling, met internationale waardering.
In 2010 werd de cd Avalonia uitgebracht (Challenge Jazz Records) met Michael Moore als gast. Daarnaast touren ze regelmatig met saxophoongigant Tony Malaby (het quartet wat dan ontstaat werd onlangs laat op de avond omgedoopt tot Beans & Nuts).
