New Cool Collective

Biografie

Sinds de oprichting in 1994 loopt het collectief als een trein. Een groovy sneltrein die van London Jazz Café naar Istanboel sjeeste, rondje Texel maakte, jaarlijks langs North Sea Jazz ging en daarna naar Boedapest, Letland, Estland, Wenen, Oeganda, Luxemburg, Rusland en nog vele andere bestemmingen. Tussendoor won New Cool Collective de Edison Jazz Award (2000) en stopte de band bij talloze haltes voor optredens en televisie optredens als Barend en van Dorp, de Tros TV show, Raymann is Laat en Paradiso Live. In 2002 stapten ze in een helikopter voor een tour langs de bevrijdingsfestivals in Groningen, Zwolle, Haarlem en Den Bosch.

Daarnaast waren er natuurlijk de maandelijkse New Cool-avonden waar de band, vaak met gasten, een swingend feestje aanrichtte. Afgelopen jaar was drummer Tony Allen één van de gasten en die samenwerking duurde voort: New Cool Collective met Tony Allen en kora-speler Ali Boulo Santo deden afgelopen december een Afrobeat-tour in het clubcircuit.
Dus New Cool Collective is wat je noemt een working band. Acht zeer productieve muzikanten die allen ook nog eens individuele uitstapjes maken naar andere projecten.

Naast al deze uitstapjes is de New Cool Collective erg druk bezig met de New Cool Collective Big Band. In de loop van 2007 zal er een nieuw Big Band-album uitkomen!
