Opdracht aan het uitvoeren... een moment geduld
Joost Swart (March 10, 1975) started playing the piano at age 8. First he studied classical music but soon he began to improvise and play jazz music. In 1993 he started studying jazz piano at the Conservatory of Groningen in the north of Holland. He had lessons with Michiel Borstlap, Jasper van ‘t Hof, Bé Meiborg and Henk Meutgeert.
In 1994 Joost became member of the quintet of the famous female Dutch singer Francien van Tuinen. With her he did three cd-recordings called “Tuindance” (1997), “Despina’s Eye” (2000) and “A Perfect Blue Day” (2004) both as a piano player and a composer.
With his group Joost Swart TETRA he made his debute solo album “Garnwerd Suite” (2004) which received amazing media critics.
Joost Swart recorded with Francien van Tuinen, Benjamin Herman, Eric Vloeimans, Yuri Honing, Jesse van Ruller, Michiel Borstlap and Manny Duran, and did concerts with Rick Margitza, Craig Handy, Don Braden, Valery Ponomarev, and Ralph Peterson. In February 2005 he did a big European tour with the altosax player from New York Vincent Herring en bass player Essiet Essiet.
