Michael Rorby

Biografie

Michael Rörby, originally from Stockholm, Sweden lives in Amsterdam since about five years, working with- and writing for his own Quartet.

Other collaborations includes Mischa van der Wekken Quintet, Harpakhrad, Sun Spots, Big Boy Caprice, Amsterdam Jazz Collective, Trabucombo, Tumbabo, Zuiderzee Orkest, Tribute 2 Bob Marley, John Gration Combination, New Cool Collective, ILLICIT, Opposites, New Generation Big Band and others.

The last years has included various television performances (VPRO), radio broadcasts and appearing in René Seegers' film "Madame Jeanette" directed by Paula van der Oest.

Upcoming projects are a first CD release with Michael Rörby Quartet and an album with Amsterdam Jazz Collective.

Michael Rörby is an alumni of Kungl Musikhögskolan - Stockholm, Sweden - 2000, from which he holds a Master of Fine Arts in Music year 2000 and Conservatorium van Amsterdam - Amsterdam, Netherlands, where he graduated the Second Phase with honours [Cum Laude] in 2003.
